Shopify disables customer accounts for new stores by default, and customer accounts must be enabled to use our Customer Fields app. You can follow the steps below to enable customer accounts:

  • Login to the Shopify admin and go to Settings > Checkout and accounts > Customer account > Account experience

  • Select "Show login link in the header of online store and at checkout"

    • Optional: Select "Require customers to log in before checkout"

  • For the account version, choose "Classic customer accounts"

  • Make sure to save your changes, and then you'll be all set!

Replacing Shopify's standard registration form with a custom form

This guide will walk you through how to install a form in place of Shopify's standard registration form. If you want to install a form on a page other than the registration form, check out this article: Customer Fields App Block.

Step 1

On the forms page of the app, click the "edit" button for the form that you are trying to install.

Step 2

Navigate to the "Installation" page and use the theme selector to select the theme that you would like to install the form on.

Step 3

Copy the form ID, and then click "Enable app".

Step 4

A new page will open with your theme customizer. Customer Fields should automatically be enabled, this will be indicated by the toggle in the top left of the screen. You can now paste the form ID into the "Registration form ID" field.

Step 5

After pasting the form ID, your custom form will populate on the screen. Just make sure to click the "Save" button in the top right, and you have finished the installation!
