Customer Fields is fully integrated with Google reCAPTCHA. The forms you create in our Customer Fields app are designed to include a hidden captcha by default.

The latest version of the app uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 (Enterprise), which is a new type of captcha that works behind the scenes without any interaction from your customers. This feature exists to ensure that your forms are being submitted by actual human beings and not spam bots.

See the screenshot below for an example of the reCAPTCHA badge that appears when spam protection is enabled:

Spam protection settings

You can find the spam protection settings in the app admin under Settings > Security.

On the Security page you'll find a section for Spam protection, like so:

Adjust spam protection sensitivity

You can adjust the sensitivity of the app's spam protection feature using a slider. This setting controls the minimum threshold required by the Google reCAPTCHA. We recommend using the default setting (High), but you can increase or decrease the sensitivity as needed.

Adjusting the sensitivity is especially helpful in cases where real customers are getting spam protector errors, or if you notice that spam submissions are still coming through.

Enable/disable spam protection

Spam protection is enabled by default for all stores using Customer Fields, and we strongly recommend keeping this feature enabled. That being said, you do have the option to disable spam protection, and when doing so the app will automatically remove the hidden captcha from each of your forms.
