Getting started

It’s likely that the header of your store is the first thing your customers look at when browsing. So naturally, the menus in your store's header will receive a majority of attention from customers. For this reason, your Shopify storefront should feature menus that your customers love. Meteor’s goal is to help you build mega menus that are both eye-catching and navigable, so customers have easy access to your store's collections, products, and pages. ✨

If you’re not sure how to start building mega menus, don’t panic. These docs will guide you through the setup process, so that you have the tools you need to build top-notch mega menus for your store. We also provide chat & email support if you have any questions along the way!

Quick tips

Before jumping in, here are a few important details to keep in mind:

  1. All mega menus created with Meteor are tied to your navigation menus in Shopify. We recommend to set up your menus in your Shopify navigation first, before attaching & customizing the mega menus using Meteor.

  2. As you build your mega menus, we recommend focusing on organization, discoverability, clarity, and (of course) aesthetics. Build menus that will catch your customer’s attention and help them find what they need - quickly and effortlessly.

  3. Each mega menu created in Meteor should link to one of your store’s main menu items. This is done by editing the ‘Menu placement’ settings in the app admin (we explain how to do this later).

  4. Desktop menu templates are distinct from Meteor’s mobile menu template. Mobile users have different needs than desktop users, and Meteor’s menu templates reflect those differences. You can choose from a variety of 8 desktop templates, all of which include a simple, singular template for mobile. The app’s mobile template is designed to be user-friendly and optimized for touchscreen devices. Please note that the app’s mobile menu template does not support images, but several of the desktop menu templates do!
